As a Horticulturist Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and beauty of interior plantscapes in a variety of commercial and residential settings throughout Delaware. This position requires travel to client sites, and you will be operating company vans. You will be the face of our company, ensuring our clients’ spaces are vibrant and thriving through meticulous plant care and professional interaction.

The Right Candidate:

Is a team player with a genuine interest in growing and maintaining interior plants in diverse environments.
Is capable of meeting the physical demands of the role, including the ability to lift up to 20 lbs repeatedly, walk 3-5 miles per day while carrying tools and supplies, and comfortably work off-ground using ladders while handling watering buckets (10-20 lbs).
Possesses a keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing high-quality plant care.
Demonstrates the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, independent working environment.
Has a reliable mode of transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be comfortable driving company vans.
Must be able to push or pull a water system watering machine weighing up to 120 lbs when full.
Must be fluent in spoken English and able to communicate effectively with clients.
Is professional, friendly, and demonstrates excellent customer service skills, including the ability to interact well with clients.

Job Duties:

Maintain the overall health and aesthetic appeal of interior plant installations in corporate and other client settings.
Water plants and sub-irrigation systems accurately according to each plant’s specific needs.
Ensure all plants are clean and free of dust and debris.
Perform pruning and removal of discolored or dead foliage.
Monitor for and address pest infestations and diseases using appropriate topical and systemic treatments.
Remove any trash or debris from planters and surrounding areas.
Fertilize plants as required, particularly during active growth seasons.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment at client sites, ensuring no spills or debris are left behind.
Keep tools, equipment, and supplies clean and in good working order, and report any low stock.
Communicate any plant health issues, damages, or client concerns to the supervisor promptly.
Maintain basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Calendar, Teams, Excel) for communication and scheduling.
Communicate professionally and courteously with clients to coordinate plant care and serve as a point of contact for on-site inquiries.
Inform the supervisor of any changes in client contacts, site access, plant locations, or safety concerns.
Request plant replacements as needed and provide clear site-specific information.
Visit all assigned accounts on schedule, prioritizing high-maintenance and larger installations.
Attend regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance horticultural knowledge and skills.
Collaborate with sales and purchasing teams by sharing insights and ideas for new plant selections.
Identify and suggest opportunities for improvements at client sites, including restaging projects.
Undertake special projects as assigned.

Required Abilities and Skills:

1 to 3 years of proven experience working with plants, gardening, or landscaping is required.
Solid understanding of various indoor plant species and their specific watering, light, and fertilization requirements.
Ability to identify common indoor plant pests and diseases and implement appropriate solutions.
Comfort and proficiency in using basic horticultural tools and equipment.
Exceptional observational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Excellent spoken communication and interpersonal skills with a professional, friendly, and customer-focused approach.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working on your feet for extended periods.
Ability to push or pull a water system watering machine weighing up to 120 lbs when full.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Comfort and experience driving vans.
Fluency in spoken English.
Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and positively with clients.
